Everything Else You Want to Know About Flooring

Do you sell carpet or pad separately? Yes, we are happy to provide just materials if you have your own installer. However, we can only guarantee installations performed by our installation crews. Material warranties are from the mills and suppliers. Note: If someone other than a Wall to Wall Designs' crew installs materials with a potential warranty issue, the mill or supplier may require their own inspection or testing prior to settling a claim.

What if there's a problem with my installation? Although an occurrence of a problem is rare, the owner of the store believes that the measure of a company is what it does when things do go wrong to make them right. Wall to Wall Designs will make sure that any problems that occur will be dealt with immediately to ensure that the customer is completely satisfied. Like any other material, carpets may be damaged during storage or shipping. Damage from carpet poles may not be known until the carpet is brought to your home and in the process of being installed. If we are installing your carpet we won't make you wait a week or more for a mill inspector -- we'll order more carpet to finish the job right away and we take care of dealing with the mill's warranty.

What about my old carpet and pad? We will be responsible for properly disposing of any old material that we remove in the process of installing your new carpet unless your request otherwise.

How much is the installation of carpet and pad? Installation of flooring materials usually ranges from $3 - $6 per square yard for residential carpets. A minimum charge of $75 - $100 is standard in the industry.

In this area of the country most flooring installations are done by independent contractors who usually associate with 2-5 different flooring dealers. Most reputable carpet installers charge extra for moving furniture, taking up and disposing of existing carpet and padding, carpeting or upholstering steps, handling high-end, berbers or patterned carpets and for bordering. The independent contractor/installer sets his own rates for installation and flooring dealers pass along that charge in one way or another to consumers. However, every job is unique and at Wall to Wall Designs we believe in charging our customers only the labor needed to complete their specific job.

What type of pad do you use? We prefer to use a 7/16 inch 8 pound rebond pad that exceeds the minimum recommendation for residential use by the Carpet and Rug Institute. There are less expensive cushions on the market but the difference in cost is low compared to the benefit in the feel and wear of your carpet you get from using a better cushion. We can provide upgrades to include slab rubber and fiber pads.

Do you bind or back carpets? Yes. Binding is often done for carpet (especially berber or thick carpets) on open stairs. We can also provide stair rods for that special, elegant look. If a customer wants a carpet area rug we can bind and back it. We can also make custom designed rugs from carpet.

I've seen carpet that has custom borders and designs. Can you do that? Absolutely. We can help you design any look you desire. We are limited only by imagination!

Do you clean carpets? No. We will be glad to suggest a reputable company.
